For years, I lived in fight-or-flight mode.

A high-pressure, successful career kept me moving at full speed - deadlines, decisions, the constant hum of responsibility. I told myself I was coping. I told myself I was thriving.

But the truth was, I ignored the warning signs my body was sending - the burnout, the tension, the moments when my heart raced for no reason at all. I kept pushing, believing that rest could wait.

The impacts were devastating.

In 2024, after years of running on empty, my body forced me to stop. I found myself facing major surgery and a decision about my fertility that I never thought I’d have to make in my late thirties. I was fighting for my life - and grappling with a future I didn’t ever think I’d be signed up for.

In an instant, the urgency I had once reserved for my work shifted to taking care of myself. Recovery brought both challenge and clarity. I began to see that calm was not a “nice to have” - it was essential. It’s part of what allows us to heal, soften, and feel whole again. It allows us to be well, mentally, physically and spiritually.
